Garmin 376c
The previously discussed Garmin 376c arrived (Thanks!). I am going to look like a total tool, riding a Vespa with a Garmin 2820 and 376 mounted side by side.
The 376 has all of the features I am looking for, however, I've never used it to navigate and I am not comfortable trying it for the first time on this trip! Matt is eagerly anticipating the 'crash' of my GPS technology after its near flawless performance on the Maryland Loop. After 8000 miles, it's yet to get me lost!
XM Radio Issues Solved?
XM requires a clear view of the southern sky to work best. There is nothing more annoying or distracting that cruising down the road and having your radio cut in and out.
On the Cannonball, I mounted it inside the leg-shield, since we were heading east, it worked half the time. Sucked, but was surprisingly peaceful to cross the dessert, without a single person insight for as far as I could see and still listen to Fox News.

On the trip down to Florida, the magnetic back held it to the front of the leg-shield, it worked great. No signal issues at all going down, I don't think I could have done the 850 miles without the XM. Helps pass time with fresh news and entertainment. Coming home from
Florida, I had it zip tied to the mirror to attempt to get better signal. Sucked and I had to battle an antenna dangling in my way for 1200 miles.I found a RAM Antenna Mount at Cabelas that will mount to the GPS. Now I look extremely dorky, but, if this works... I don't really care. It was $24.99, I mounted it to the windscreen. If the screen cracks off with vibration, I guess I will need to get a new one. I might take it off tonight put a grommet in the drill holes.
